Signs of Spring

Although it is officially Spring, here in the Boston area it is Mud Season. Most people are still wearing their Polarfleece, down jackets and Uggs, but with Easter coming next week, everyone wants something to Spring up their outfits. Here are some vintage pins that make me think of Spring. I got them all from my mom and they live in a vintage Hush Puppies shoe box! You can see all sorts of vintage goodness at Colorado Lady where Suzanne has a list of all this week's participants. This gold-tone snail is cute when worn, but kind of creepy up close, which is how real snails seem to me, too! It has some kind of green crushed rock swirled for its shell and the eyes are red sparkly stones. This daisy looks like it has different tones of gold on the petals, but that is just the way the light hit it for the picture. I like the little pearl in the center.
What a cool flower! It seems delicate because of the thin wires all shaped to form the petals, but it's actually pretty forgiving when it gets squoosed and moved around in the shoe box. It's my favorite of these three.
I'll have more vintage costume jewelry soon! Have a fun weekend and maybe get some vintage bargains at a yard sale or flea market that you can share with us next week for Vintage Thingies Thursday at Colorado Lady!

Very nice vintage jewelry. I love the flowers in the pins. I have noticed lately, that there seems to be a real interest at costume jewelry at estate sales, more so than in the past. Great post today Elizabeth, such fun!

I love the big Brooches, they are really becoming popular again. I used to have a pretty pink one like the second one you have. Don't know what happened it to it.

Yeah well, your snail is kind of weird, but I love the daisies!
Wear them in good health Elizabeth!

I'm not a jewelery person by any means - I wear only my wedding ring and a gold cross on a chain - but I love the third pin! It looks so dainty.

It's amazing to see jewelry that I grew up with being called vintage. That means that I am ... well, let's move on to another thought!

All of these pieces could be worn with pride today as each are quite pretty.

Girl, these are too lovely to be hiding in a show box! What about pinning them to some black velvet with a vintage frame around it and hang it on your wall? The snail is too cute!

These are stunning! I love to collect vintage pins and sometimes re-purpose them to star in a jewelry piece :)

Elizabeth,

The crushed 'green rock' on the snail pin is actually jadite and of quite a good quality from what I can see. Thanks for sharing all the pins. xxoo

I could have written SMILINGSAL's comment. I remember when these pins where all the big thing. I had a poodle pin to go with my poodle skirt.
Oh my gosh...., the time does go by.

Great post!

Lovely vintage pins... you don't see many people wearing pins anymore which is too bad, yours really would make any outfit fit for spring.

Elizabeth - I still smile when I come over to your blog - the new look is great. Don't be surprised if I steal your ric-rac border idea for my blog! The pins are so lovely and remind me of the pins my grandmother wore. It seemed she had a different one for each day - at a time when women "dressed" for the day. ~Kelly
